Amanda Reifer Tells GQ Magazine She’s “Sunshine-Sexy” In Comparison To Rihanna
It’s a first for Amanda Reifer, the Barbadian beauty and 21-year-old lead singer of Cover Drive. The ‘Sparks’ singer was recently featured in the May 2012 issue of GQ Magazine where she discusses being compared to Rihanna, being crushed on by Tinie Tempah and her dreams of “world domination.”
As we all know, both Amanda and Rihanna hail from Barbados but their similarities end there. “I’m not trying to be Rihanna,” Amanda confesses. “What distinguishes us [Cover Drive] is we’re a band, we play live instruments and we do Caribbean pop music as well. And Rihanna’s really edgy right now. I’m a little more sunshine-sexy, less raunchy.”
There you have it folks, study the difference … got it? Good!
Even though the two may not be as alike as people think, Reifer does acknowledge the support of her fellow singer. On August 5th, 2011 Amanda and her band Cover Drive would receive perhaps one of the biggest gigs of their career – performing in front of 25,000 people as the opening act to global superstar Rihanna
They put on a thrilling show and after their performance, Reifer revealed that she got an uber positive comment from Rihanna herself. “She said to me, ‘Girl, your boxy looked ridiculous on stage.’ In Barbados that means really good!”
Reifer and Rihanna may not share many of the same qualities but one thing that they do have in common is there stunning good looks. These looks got Amanda noticed by U.K. rapper Tinie Tempah who tweeted that he had a crush on her. To be honest, we can’t blame him one bit.
Sadly, it seems that he doesn’t have much of a chance with the Bajan Beauty, or at least not at this point in her career. When asked if she would go out on a date with him she replied, “Depends what kind of date. I’m not up for a serious commitment at this point. I’m focusing on my music. Ultimately, our goal is world domination.”
