Rihanna Is A Japanese Goddess In Tour Version Of ‘Princess Of China’
The moment that Coldplay was introduced to ‘Princess Of China,’ they all agreed that Rihanna would be the best person to sing with them on the track, and after a few months, their request was fulfilled. They ended up with a unique track that’s heavy on synths with perfect melodies from Chris Martin and Rihanna – an instant mega hit.
A few weeks ago, Rihanna shared photos from the set and a few days ago, Coldplay teased footage from the video during one of their concerts in Edmonton, Canada and now, nothing gives us more joy than to announce that the tour version of the video has finally premiered.
Since it’s the tour version, Rihanna is the only one featured in the video as she delivers her parts to the song. Standing in front of an ever colourful and ever changing background, she wears the looks that she previously dubbed “Gangsta Goth Geisha.”
One of the looks show the singer in a black strapless dress with a high split accessorizing with her trademark red lipstick, smoky eyes, super-long golden nail extensions, gold earrings and a traditional Geisha hairstyle and hairpiece. With this look, she has multiple sets of hands dancing behind her much like Buddha.
Rihanna also wears a purple silk kimono with red highlights, gold hoop earrings and an ofuku hairstyle with a hairpiece as she dances with a red silk scarf.
Chris Martin told MTV, “Rihanna‘s bit on our record is my favorite bit,. When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music.”
According to Just Jared, the official version of the video will premiere in a few weeks! In the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for the tour version.
