Adam Levine Covers Paper, Calls Himself A “Huge Pain In The A*s”
Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is known for his airy voice and his signature facial hair but in the May issue of ‘Paper,’ he admits that “I can be a huge pain in the A*s.” On the cover of the magazine, his photo is pretty standard as a portrait of the singer who wears a white shirt, necklace and his trademark five o’ clock shadow.
Maroon 5 has titled their upcoming LP ‘Overexposed’ and Levine told the magazine that not only does he recognize that his level of fame can harm his musical career, but that he fears it. “I feel the potential of overexposure and it’s a very real feeling.” “We’ve kind of succumbed to the fact that that’s what’s going on. It’s better to know about it and make light of it because I don’t think we ever want the music to be overshadowed. You can’t get sick of us if we’re already sick of ourselves.”
He also acknowledged the fact that his attitude may not be the best saying, “I can be a huge pain in the a*s, huge pain in the a*s.” “That’s part of who I am and there’s not a person I know who doesn’t think I’m a pain in the a–. But I’m also really nice and a completely affable and socially adept person. There’s a difference between being an a*shole and a pain in the a*s.”
Levine may not have the best attitude in the world but he has admitted that he’s “really nice and a completely affable and socially adept person” and this perhaps is what causes his unending fascination with the concept of marriage. “I’m extremely fascinated by [it]. I want to study marriage. I want to learn about it. I want to know it. I want to figure out whether or not I want to do it. I’m not just going to leap into it, because that’s not good for anybody.”
However, even though he just broke off a two year relationship with Victoria’s Secret model Anne V and is afraid of becoming ‘Overexposed,’ the singer revealed that he’s exactly where he thinks he should be. “I just hope this isn’t the case when I’m 40. I turned 33 and I thought, ‘OK, this is exactly where I need to be,’ and why should I stop until I get to a point where I can, and say, ‘F*ck this, I’m going to go play golf.’”
The May issue of ‘Paper’ magazine hits newsstands tomorrow (April 27th). Grab your copy before they’re all gone!
