Justin Bieber premiered his video for ‘Boyfriend’ last night on MTV and following the exclusive premiere, he sat down for an interview with MTV’s Sway where he discussed a number of topics including ‘Boyfriend,’ ‘Believe,’ ‘Men In Black,’ his moustache, Mariah Yeater and more.

On ‘Boyfriend’:

“I’m happy. I mean, I kind of switched it up from all the teasers. I wanted to do something that was a little more mature. My fans are all growing with me. It was something more mature and that all my fans would like.”

On choosing his co-star:

“They had two girls based on the pictures and we picked the one who looked best on camera. It was kind of a group thing. She was like really beautiful but on camera it gave this cool vibe. She looked like Pocahontas.”

On his opinion of Justin Timberlake:

I haven’t seen it. Definitely, he was young and he did it. He was really amazing and had amazing music. I can’t say I would be upset if someone compared me to him, but I think my music is going in a completely different direction.
On his dangerous yet funny elevator game:
“In an elevator. Kenny and all us have this game where we just hit each other in the balls. It’s just funny.”
On ‘X Factor’:
“I’m actually too busy because I’m going to be going on a world tour.”

On ‘Believe’:
“Different situations I’ve been in. That’s what I wanted to touch on. The baby situation, which was totally not true, by the way — I wrote a song about that. It’s on there. It’s like my Billie Jean. At the end of the day I’m human. I go through all the problems you go through.”

On what he wants people to know:
“I want people to know that my music is something I take really seriously. It’s not a joke. It’s not just mainstream pop music. I’ve been doing music since I was really little and I just want to show the world that it’s not a game.”
On choosing ‘Boyfriend’ as the first single:
“I just thought it was like, out of all the songs I had at that time, it was the song that most represented me at the time. It was perfect first song to come out with. My single is better. And my next single is better. I think it’s “As Long As You Love Me.” It’s like mid-tempo. I just think it’s edgy. It’s something I can hear on the radio. It’s going to get stuck in people’s heads.”
On other songs that he’s written:
“I wrote a song for my mom. I think I’m going to put it out on Mother’s Day. I don’t know if it’s going on the album.”
On what he wants to improve on:
“I’m trying to get better at dancing. I’ve been in the dance studio trying to clean up.”
On advice from Usher:
“Always keep the people who were there in the beginning with you. They are the ones that really care.”
On Drake:
“It’s crazy. We’re both going on the same journey on the different sides of the world. It’s so cool because we both get what each other are going through. He’s able to give me different advice and I’m able to tell him how to treat the ladies…just kidding!”
On his studio process:
“I’m always pretty like, if I’m in the studio there’s no time to mess around. There’s a beat and I write to that, or there’s a guitar.”
On what he’s up to next:
“I’m going to be touring. I’m still working on this movie with Mark Wahlberg. I don’t know what the deal is, but they are rewriting the script to make it fit better.”
On his basketball skill:
“Right now, I haven’t played basketball in awhile. I played in this charity game at Shaq’s house. It wasn’t too hard to beat them.”
On what he would ask his 25-year-old self:
“I would probably ask my 25-year-old self for facial hair. I’m not getting any facial hair anytime soon. I want to show I’m just in the streets workin. There are like a couple hairs. It’s coming soon.”
On whether or not he regrets fame:
“No, I mean, I wouldn’t be where I am now. I’m able to travel the world. I had never been on an airplane before all this. It’s so hard being away from my family and friends, but when I think about it, it’s all worth it.”
On the last movie he watched:
“Last movie I watched?
I don’t remember. I think I watched on the plane Horrible Bosses.”
On watching TV:
“I like the New Girl. Have you seen that show? It’s such a good show.”
On what animal he’d be if he could be one:
“If I were an animal — no I wouldn’t be a unicorn! I would be like a tiger or something. Or a lion. Something. That’s a random question. I want to be on the top of the food chain.”
On his favorite cereal:
“My favorite cereal is crunch berries or frosted mini wheats.”
On females he’d like to collaborate with:

“I would collaborate with maybe like Rihanna or Beyoncé.”
On his favourite kind of soup:

“I like broccoli cheddar soup.”
On missing his hair flip:
“Do I miss the flip? Not really. That was in its time. Maybe it’ll come back. It was cool in the time. Now I’m just onto a new chapter. The thing is I always put out random songs. Just different covers. When my voice was changing, I put out songs. The tone is deeper and sexier.”
On touring with the Wanted:

“Maybe, I mean The Wanted came on tour in South America with me. I’m not sure if we’re all going to tour, but I’m not opposed to it.”
On being nervous about not being relevant:
“No. At the end of the day, I’m enjoying what is happening right now. My fans have been taking me on this crazy roller coaster ride. You know why I’m not nervous about falling off? Because it’s all about the music. When the music is there, the talent is there, the hard work is there, I think it’s only a matter of time — you just keep going up.”
