We reported yesterday that Bieber’s presence in Norway was about to spark a state of emergency as tens of thousands of Beliebers had made their way to Oslo to see JB perform six tracks as a part of an ‘Around the World’ TV special. He was forced to take to Twitter to address the issue as the police had requested him to perform ahead of schedule before the crowd became too much to handle.
TMZ reports that JB was set to perform outside of the Oslo Opera House but tens of thousands of fans invaded the performance site and they even chased after the car transporting him. Cell phone usage was also so extreme that cellular service in the city temporarily crashed.
Police authorities were threatening to cancel the performance but after sending a series of tweets to his fans, they calmed down enough for the show to go underway. They also forced him to delay the start of the concert by 30 minutes for security reasons.
According to a NKR News Service report, the police have blamed the venue saying: “The concert should be held somewhere other than roof of the Opera, which has clear space limitations.” Billboard also reports “about 15 girls passed out.”
Justin Bieber’s Oslo Performance was filmed as a part of the upcoming “Justin Bieber: All Around the World” TV special, which shows the singer’s journey on his 12-day, seven-country promo tour. The show airs at 8 p.m. June 21 on NBC.
According to TMZ, Oslo’s Mayor Fabian Stang as launched a full on investigation into the event as 49 teenage Beliebers were injured and 14 were taken by ambulance to the hospital. He said: “I have already called on the Emergency Planning Agency to examine the entire event from the planning stage to its implementation. We have to find out what went wrong and why it happened.”
There was such an uproar that Mayor Stang was forced to hide behind a tree for his own protection. As seen in the photo below compliments of TMZ, fans even tried to approach the stage via the water.
Following the performance, Justin Bieber was rushed away from the location via a police cigarette boat. If this is what the life of a Pop singer has come to – God help us all.
