Earlier this morning we reported that Liam Hemsworth had proposed to his girlfriend of 3-years Miley Cyrus presenting her with a 3.5-carat diamond ring from Neil Lane. PEOPLE Magazine obtained exclusive details of the engagement and photos of the ring, which were published in their latest issue. Photos of the ring have made their way online and according to Mitchell Egenberg, diamond expert and jeweler to the stars, the ring cost Hemsworth approximately $100,000. Egenberg said “This guy’s no slouch.”
Neil Lane told Hollywood Life: “Miley’s engagement ring is a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. And the center stone is extra special: it’s an antique dating back to the late 19th century.”
Hemsworth told PEOPLE that he wanted “something unusual.” “Something really beautiful and romantic.”
Neil Lane told PEOPLE: “It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form.” “At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.” “It’s a contemporary design based on vintage aesthetics.” “The light flashes and sparkles no matter where Miley moves her hand.”
The ring was only completed last week and Lane said that they “worked back and forth and it’s everything he was looking for.”
Miley is very happy about the engagement and tweeted, “thank you for all the love today : ) I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true. ❤ have a great day.”
