As we reported last month, Nicola Furlong, a 21-year-old foreign exchange student from Ireland was brutally murdered by two unidentified American men after a Nicki Minaj concert.

Furlong and her friend Sarah Maher met two men at the concert and left together in a taxi. The police report that one of the men allegedly sexually assaulted Furlong in his hotel suite and then strangled her. Maher was also raped and authorities believe that the ladies’ drinks had been spiked.

ABC24 News reports that Richard Hinds, a 19-year-old teenager from Memphis has been arrested for the death of Furlong and has confessed to authorities that he did strangle her in her hotel room on May 24th but he stated that he had no intention to take her life.

Hinds and his friend were being held in custody for suspected molestation of Furlong’s friend and after reviewing security footage from the hotel and Furlong’s autopsy report, Hinds has been slapped with an additional charge.

Richard Hinds was a well-respected Christian Musician in Memphis and had moved to Japan to work as a backup dancer for an R&B artist. “When I read the story I started putting things together, I said surely not,” said one of his friends. “Surely this isn’t happening, a piece of my heart broke, because I don’t know that person that the media is trying to portray. I don’t know that person.”

ABC24 News reports that Hinds was scheduled to return to the United States on June 20th but in light of the situation, he will be detained until the murder case is compiled.
