On Monday (July 16th), stars hit the black carpet for the premiere of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ held at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square Theater on the Upper West Side of New York City.

Anne Hathaway stunned in a white floor-length gown from Prabal Gurung‘s Resort 2012 collection while her co-star Marion Cotillard looked gorgeous in ivory Christian Dior Couture. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was also appropriately dressed in Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière.

‘The Dark Knight’ rises is the final installment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman) is happy that it’s over. “Yeah, it’s bittersweet, but I think though that Chris is such a good storyteller, if he says it’s the right time to finish, it’s the right time to finish,” Bale told E! News.

He explained: “It’s the only character I’ve played three times and there’s certainly a lot more stories that could be told, he’s a really interesting character, but enough’s enough. It’s nice to leave when we’re out on top instead of leaving people wanting less.”

“I hope I can sit back and enjoy it like a fan,” he added.

Meanwhile, Hathaway is excited to see herself on the IMAX screen. “I feel very calm about it, actually,” she said before adding, “maybe I shouldn’t.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt spoke on Hathaway’s performance in the action-flick. ”I’ll tell you what—she’s sexy as hell, but she’s not doing the typical, like, ‘Oh, I’m a vampy, sexy girl,’” he said. “She’s strong. She’s a bad*ss, and I think that’s cool that she’s setting an example that you don’t have to be a girly-girl to be sexy.”

The plot of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is as follows: “Eight years on, a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham’s finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy.”

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ hits cinemas worldwide on Friday, July 20th.
