Exclusive Interview: Miss Barbados World 2012 Marielle Wilkie

Published On August 1, 2012 | Barbados, Celebrities, Interviews

It’s a radiant morning in mid-July and we are joined at Limegrove Lifestyle Centre by the newly crowned Miss Barbados World Marielle Wilkie and her predecessor Taisha Carrington. The past few days have been hectic for Marielle as she had been making final preparations for her journey to Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China, where she will join 130 other delegates to compete for the title of Miss World so it was a pleasure to know that she could fit us into her schedule.

Our host Imogen Cooper greets the ladies at the entrance of the water courtyard and as they make their way to the set, they stop to sign autographs and pose for pictures at the request of their supporters.

This kind of attention is nothing new for Taisha but for Marielle it comes as a bit of a surprise. Nevertheless, they smile and chat with everyone while fulfilling each request with the utmost elegance and grace.

After about 13 minutes, the crowd thanks them and disperses, allowing us to get back to the matter at hand. It’s the start of an interesting day and as everyone takes a seat in front of the cameras, the interview begins.

We discuss everything with Marielle from her personality to her level of preparedness for this year’s competition and later on, Taisha joins us for an even more in-depth conversation where she recaps her time as Miss Barbados World and offers Marielle insightful tips on how to come out on top.
