Last night (August 14th), Nicki Minaj took to New York City’s Roseland Ballroom to perform a free show for her Barbz. The first show in NYC since cancelling her Summer Jam appearance back in June, the Young Money rapper partnered with Pepsi for the event, which was live-streamed via Pepsi’s website and on giant screens in Times Square.

Hitting the stage in a number (4 … along with three wig changes) of colourful, body-hugging outfits, she performed a string of hits including ‘Starships,’ ‘Turn Me On,’ ‘Pound The Alarm’ and ‘Beez In the Trap’ but the highlights of the concert were the guest appearances as Drake, Lil Wayne, Cam’ron and Foxy Brown joined her on stage.

The guest appearances were spectacular but the most important guest to Minaj was Foxy Brown who she introduced as “the female rapper who influenced me the most.”

Brown then performed three song from her 2001 album ‘Broken Silence’ and Minaj said, “’Broken Silence’ changed my life,” Minaj said. “I always loved Foxy. When she put out ‘Broken Silence,’ I knew she was an innovator.”

“There aren’t any other female rappers who have opened doors for me than you,” Minaj said, quickly adding: “You and Lauryn (Hill).”

As we’re sure you know by now, Minaj has bruised her vocal chords and she gave a shout out to her doctor in the crowd after telling the crowd, “I bruised my vocal chords.”
