Gotye stands in a creative field all by himself and to celebrate the success of his No. 1 super smash hit single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know,’ the Belgian-born Australian singer/songwriter took a handful of YouTube covers and combined them to create ‘Somebodies: A YouTube Orchestra.’ – that could very well top any other cover mashup ever created.

Along with the video, he wrote: “Reluctant as I am to add to the mountain of interpretations of Somebody That I Used To Know seemingly taking over their own area of the internet, I couldn’t resist the massive remixability that such a large, varied yet connected bundle of source material offered.”

While it may have been near impossible for the average musician to compile so many varieties of the song, Gotye had no problem doing it flawlessly. He didn’t add any extra sounds but he did use “some EQ, filtering, pitch-shifting and time-stretching to make the music.
”

“Thank you to everyone who has responded to ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ via YouTube,” he wrote. “It’s truly amazing!”
