One Direction has been scarce on new music as of late and the British boy band comprised five young lads has just changed all of that with the announcement that their new single is ‘Live While We’re Young.’

Here’s the great news One Directioners, their new single will be available for pre-order on iTunes at midnight, but sadly, that date is only for the U.K. fans. U.S. Directioners will have to wait until October 1st to officially get their hands on the single.

For ‘Live While We’re Young,’ the boys once again worked with songwriters Savan Kotecha, Rami Yacoub and Carl Falk, who were responsible for ‘One Thing’ and ‘What Makes You Beautiful.’ We can already tell that it’s going to be a hit and the song has been described as “an immediate, energy-packed song mixing rock undertones with smooth harmonies, about living for the moment.”

This is huge news for both One Direction and their fans because ‘Live While We’re Young’ is the first single from their upcoming album due out in November. Their sophomore effort saw 1D hitting the studio with g Ed Sheeran, McFly’s Tom Fletcher, Dr. Luke, Shellback and Toby Gad.

“We want to say a massive thank you to you guys because we wouldn’t be where we are today without you, so thank you,” Louis Tomlinson said in the video below.

One Direction will perform alongside Alicia Keys, Green Day, Taylor Swift and Pink at the Kevin Hart hosted 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, which airs live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6th at 8.P.M. ET/PT.
