Published On September 3, 2012 | Celebrities, Fresh Tunes, Music News

Rumours of Alicia Keys and Nicki Minaj collaboration surfaced yesterday and while we were super stoked about the news, the actual track makes us so much more excited.

As the name suggests, ‘Girl On Fire (Inferno Version)’ is flaming in every aspect and opens with a thumping beat as Minaj raps about resisting self-destruction.

She raps: “Spirit of Marilyn callin’ me / Orderin’, ballin’ me / Said she would never leave / Continuin’ to torture me /Tellin’ me to come with her / Underneath my comforter / She brought a gun with her / Then says to run with her / Took me on a balcony, tellin’ me to jump with her / Yeah, I’m into ghosts but / I ain’t doin’ stunts with her.”

Alicia Keys then takes center stage on the track and sings: “Got our feet on the ground / And we’re burning it down / She got her head in the clouds / And she’s not backing down / This girl is on fire / This girl is on fire / She’s walking on fire / This girl is on fire.”

Keys is definitely blazing and has prepared three versions of ‘Girl On Fire’ – the original, Inferno and Blue Light-, which she will release in the coming weeks. The original version will debut on September 4th but there is no release date for the Blue Light version as yet.

Alicia Keys will also perform at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards alongside One Direction, Rihanna, Green Day, Taylor Swift and Pink. The show airs live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6th at 8.P.M. ET/PT.
