Tour Bus Companies Warning Artists After Nelly’s Drug Bust
As Star Trident previously reported, Nelly’s tour bus was raided on Wednesday (October 10th) in Sierra Blanca, Texas and according to TMZ, when it was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint, a police canine detected the presence of drugs.
After the contraband was detected, Nelly (Cornell Haynes) and his passengers were searched and police officials found large amounts of heroin, weed and loaded guns on board. To be precise, they found 36 small bags of heroin (totaling .64 ounces), over ten pounds of marijuana inside of a green duffel bag and a loaded .45 caliber pistol.
One of Nelly’s passengers, Brian Keith Jones, admitted that the contraband was his and was immediately arrested. Nelly and the other passengers were released.
Jones was released on bail yesterday morning (October 13th) and although he admitted that the illegal substances were his, he has decided to fight the felony charges by pleading not guilty.
With all of the drama surrounding the notorious point – where celebs like Fiona Apple, Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson have been busted, – TMZ reports that a number of large bus tour companies are now warning drivers about the checkpoint.
One company told TMZ that they have instructed celebs “to abandon all illicit items if they do happen to sneak some aboard.”
Another side told TMZ, “It’s just idiotic. Just plain idiotic to risk having something like that on board. You’d have to be stupid to allow that kind of stuff on the bus. That’s why we make sure that doesn’t happen on our line.”
