Update: ‘Fast & Furious 7’ Will Still Happen – Tyrese Gibson Mourns Paul Walker
We promised to keep you updated on the future of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise after the tragic loss of its leading actor Paul Walker and we have just received new details. Early this morning, Universal and the F&F team sat down to decide the fate of the seventh installment in the series and they have decided to finish the film.
Paul was set to continue his role in Fast 7 as Brian O’ Conner and a number of crucial scenes were set to be filmed starting today in Atlanta following the Thanksgiving holiday. The film is still scheduled for release on July 11th but it is possible that date could be changed. The studio refused to comment any further.
“All of us at Universal are heartbroken,” a studio spokesperson said in a statement Saturday night. “Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family.”
We would also like to report that moments ago, Paul’s co-star and good friend Tyrese Gibson paid a visit to the crash site along with hundreds of others. According to our sources, he simply broke out in tears before making his departure. No words were spoken.
We continue to send our sympathy to Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
