The latest news of Barbadians taking over the industry.
Callum Wright has been sizzling in this little pot called Barbados for the past few months and tonight, we bring to you his dance-ready, self-written sophomore single titled ‘Sunrise.’
Produced by Minim (Cover Drive, GQ), the track boasts an undeniable reggae beat with escalating melodies and minimal synths. The song is upbeat and spends most of its time building you up towards the anthemic bridge.
“Girl I haven’t seen you around / gotta be from somewhere out of town / aye yaye yaye / and I’d love to hear about it / but let’s forget talk and get down to It / oh yeah yeah / now I don’t know your name / I’ve never seen your face / but there’s a question I got on my mind,” he sings over the fast-paced beat.
The chorus –“Put your hand in mine / now baby don’t be shy / let the rhythm take yuh downtown here in the moonlight / yeah just you and I / let’s dance away the night / we eye to eye won’t stop now until de sunrise / til de sunri-yi-yise / sunri-yi-yise / sunri-yi-yise” – is undeniably catchy and fun.
Livvi Franc has been perfecting her songwriting game over the past few years and after receiving a number of A-list placements on records such as Ciara’s upcoming self-titled album, Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic,’ ‘Christina Aguilera’s ‘Lotus’ and Leona Lewis’s ‘Glassheart’ just to name a few, the singer-songwriter released her own piece of music in the form of ‘Ballerina.’
‘Ballerina’ is a beautiful tune with electronic influences that lets Livvi’s voice take center stage above a hypnotic beat that she produced herself. Her talent is undeniable and thanks to the help of Roc Nation engineer Marcos Tovar (Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean, Rita Ora, Rihanna, Kanye West), it’s propelled to another level.
Cover Drive’s infectious pop tune ‘All My Love’ has been storming the radio waves and literally minutes ago, the Barbadian four-piece premiered the highly anticipated music video for the track. Directed by Jamie Alderson, the happy clip shows the members of the band transform into 80’s versions of themselves and embark on a love filled adventure.
Boasting beautiful scenery from Barbados, CD Fielders are introduced to Angelon, Leroylicious, Mermandia and Barnabus as they prepare heavily decorated sweets and get themselves ready for a massive party. As Angelon throws on his purple spandex suit and Mermandia boxes her deserts, they hit the road and eventually arrive at a massive house party. Of course, they stop for Coconut water and share a few hugs on the way.
Cover Drive have been teasing their brand new single ‘All My Love’ for the entire week and most fittingly, the Barbadian quartet hit up Mix 96.9 FM to premiere the song on Valentine’s Day.
The love tune is a confectionary pop piece with such simple production that allows listeners to focus on Amanda’s sugary sweet lyrics. Staying true to their reggae influenced sound, ‘All My Love’ features rhythmic drums and guitar riffs that provide a melodic base for Amanda’s smooth voice, which never fails to impress.
Gigi Ma’at is a popular name in our little island of Barbados and for good reason. An artist in every right, her creativity takes form through fashion, poetry, dance, art and most exceptionally, her ability to sing. Anyone who has been lucky enough to hear her sing will agree that she has an exceptional voice that stands out from many of the artists of today. With her dismissal of the ever-popular falsetto, she can capture the attention of any crowd with her Erika Bahdyu-esque style and easily brings a different flavour to the stage.
It’s simply impossible to deny the beauty or talent of Gigi Ma’at. Fashionable no matter the occasion and a stunner on the stage, she first took the dive into music with heavy inspiration from her father and later on her friends. “I’ve always loved music,” she tells us. “It’s a part of who I am.” Like many others, Gigi started singing for fun and that later developed into an obsession. She grew up in a different time and from a very young age she has looked to music for inspiration and strength.

With their latest single ‘Explode’ blowing up all over the place and their debut album ‘Bajan Style’ doing impressively well, Cover Drive thinks that its time for some new music and minutes ago, the band announced a brand new single.
Taking to Facebook, they posted: “We got some news for you guys! “All My Love” is coming your way soon! Get ready CD Fielders!!”
We’re looking forward to hearing ‘All My Love’ and even more, we can’t wait to see the accompanying video.
With this news, tell us guys. Are you excited?!
Vita Chambers is officially back and literally moments ago, the songstress premiered the tension-filled music video for her new single ‘Fix You’ via VEVO.
The clip opens with footage of a struggling couple fast asleep and we soon see Vita sitting at the foot of their bed, watching over her female friend as she delivers the poppy vocals to ‘Fix You.’ The couple is going through a rough patch in their strained relationship and Vita makes sure to stick around in the shadows to make sure that her female friend stays safe.
