The latest news of Barbadians taking over the industry.
There’s no talent like Barbadian talent and 19-year-old singer Vita Chambers is returning strong with her brand new single ‘Fix You.’ We haven’t been hearing much from Chambers since she opened for Justin Bieber on his highly acclaimed ‘My World Tour’ but now she’s back in full force and ready to dominate!
As we just said, ‘Fix You’ is the newest piece of music from the teenage beauty and it’s a certified club banger. Filled with repetitive bouncing synths, pounding percussions and electro rhythms , it’s an interesting dance track that even boasts a bit of dubstep.
Rihanna is the most prominent ambassador of Barbados and earlier this year, she returned home to shoot and film a promotional campaign for the island. The photos from the campaign were released earlier this year but moments ago, a promotional video was released via the official Barbados Facebook page as a part of ‘The Barbados Watch & Win with Rihanna Sweepstakes.’
Set to the tune of Rihanna’s No. 1 hit single ‘Diamonds,’ the video shows he singer enjoying some of the activities that our beautiful island has to offer. She rides a horse, swims in the deep blue sea, frolics on the beach and plays dominoes with her fellow bajans. It’s the perfect film that makes you want to come visit Barbados!
Rihanna appeared on ‘The X Factor U.K.’ just a few weeks ago to stun with her hit single ‘Diamonds’ but moments ago, the ‘Unapologetic’ starlet mad yet another appearance, performing a medley of ‘Stay’ and ‘We Found Love’ on the finale episode.
It’s no secret that Rihanna is one of our most favourite artists but we do acknowledge the fact that her on/off performances can be quite bothersome. Regardless, she put our doubts in a box and threw it into the ocean tonight because she literally blew us away with vocals that prove her true talent.
Barbadian singer-songwriter Shontelle is ready to make a triumphant return and she has just confirmed that her brand new single will be ‘Put Me On Blast,’ lifted from her yet-untitled third studio produced album, which hits shelves in 2013.
‘Put Me On Blast’ was co-written by Greg Ogan, Corey Chorus and Nikki Flores. The music video for the track was filmed this week in Los Angeles, California.
Apart from being a singer-songwriter, Shontelle is also quite the fashionista and she recently visited Samantha Thavasa’s NYC boutique with Fashion TV host Hofit Golan for a day of shopping.
The two ladies were dressed to kill and spent the day going through the collection of bags in store while pointing out what’s in and out, and what’s hot or not. Their choices were intriguing to say the least and as we learnt what handbags are suitable for day-to-day use, a movie and even the club, our attention was instantly drawn to the orange duffel that Shontelle picks up halfway through the clip.
Cover Drive fight through screaming students as they visit Queen’s College secondary school on Thursday (November 15th) in their hometown of Barbados as a part of their ongoing school tour.
With DJ’s from Slam 101.1 FM spinning in the background, Jamar, Barry, T-Ray and Amanda took the stage and performed acoustic versions of their hit singles ‘Lick Ya Down’ and ‘Explode’ for their adoring CD Fielders. The crowd was going absolutely wild and following their performance, they journeyed to a nearby classroom where they took the time to sign autographs and pose for pictures with both their fans and members of staff.
It required 11 months of detailed planning and the help of many but over the weekend, musician and promoter John Roett successfully held Rock The Rock 2012, the first of many to come. Showcasing the abundance of talent that Barbados (and furthermore, the Caribbean) has to offer, Rock The Rock served as the stage for the likes of Cover Drive, Threads Of Scarlet, Nexcyx, Kite, Fighting Traffic, Kin Sound System, Psilos, Vanna Vee, and Simon Pipe, among others.
A family affair, the event saw Bath beach in St. John flooded by persons of all ages who were eager to “rawk” out. The younger crowd was more so dressed for the occasion in comfortable beach wear and they indubitably enjoyed the concert for unlike many other events, Rock The Rock gave alternative/rock lovers the chance to surround themselves with great music and people who loved it.
Hal Linton and Shontelle seem to be closer than we initially thought and they seriously turn up the heat in the artsy and colourful visual for ‘Critical Condition,’ which premiered literally moments ago.
Helmed by Damien Gooding (KeDrew) and Hal Linton himself, the clip shows the two on-screen lovers enjoying a romantic date on Coney Island. They share ice cream. They run on the beach. They skate. They indulge in some cotton candy. They kiss. It’s the day of TLC that they’ve both needed for the longest time.
